It has been dubbed the first Black XXX feature as well as given the moniker “The Black Deep Throat” however, this film for me stands on it’s own. It’s been years since I’ve seen it and the soundtrack is INCREDIBLE!!! (I have it on my iPod and listen to it a great deal.)
To put this film under the scope of “blackplotation” fits in one way since it was made in the early 70’s and it has nothing to do with Deep Throat at all but the one thing that I do remember about this film is that is did have a plot that kept my focus in between the sex scenes.
Now, if you’ve watched any 70’s porn, you know that a lot of the plot just seem ridiculous with even worse dialogue but they are fun to watch even for the pubic hair alone. However, what I remember about Lialeh that sticks is that it was made for the same reason as a lot of the other black films of the 70’s were made. They had a story to tell and wanted to make sure that story got out they way that best represented the people who wrote and starred in it.

“Pretty” Purdie composed, produced and performed Lialeh’s score, while between projects with Curtis Mayfield, Aretha Franklin, The Last Poets, The Rolling Stones, James Brown.
Now that’s something worth checking out. Trust me on that. If you can find a copy check it out. It will be worth your while.
